Lucinda Scrivener is an accomplished educator with extensive experience in both primary and secondary education. Currently serving as the Education and Outreach Coordinator at the University of Memphis’ Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering Research (CAESER), she leverages her background in environmental geoscience to enhance community engagement and education initiatives. Lucinda holds a Master of Science in Environmental Geoscience from Mississippi State University and a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Georgia Gwinnett College.
Before her role at CAESER, Lucinda dedicated nearly a decade to classroom teaching, progressing from an elementary self-contained special education teacher to a middle school lead science teacher. Currently, she leads impactful education and outreach events, reaching over 7,000 participants in 2024. Additionally, as CAESER’s social media creator and manager, she extends her reach to an even broader community audience. A passionate speaker, Lucinda presents on various education and environmental topics throughout the Southeast.
Her philosophy centers on the belief that education empowers individuals to enhance their lives and the lives of others, fostering a better world for this and future generations. This vision aligns seamlessly with CAESER’s mission to strengthen communities by advancing environmental and social conditions through collaborative research.
