Andrew Hussey, Ph.D.

Bio

Dr. Hussey is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Fogelman College of Business at the University of Memphis. He is also a Research Fellow at the Institute for Labor Economics (IZA). Dr. Hussey is a labor economist with additional expertise in health economics and the economics of education. His research has spanned multiple areas of empirical, applied microeconomics. Most notably, his interests include: the economic impacts of advanced of higher education and advanced degrees; predictors of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial success; gender disparities in the labor force and academia; obesity and health behaviors; determinants and trends in income inequality; local and national impacts of COVID-19 on employee outcomes, organizational response, and mental health. 

Dr. Hussey teaches a variety of courses, including managerial economics and econometrics at the graduate level. He is proficient in a wide range of empirical methods, including causal estimation, descriptive analysis, program evaluation, and experimental design.
