Lucinda Scrivener is an experienced educator and science communication professional specializing in environmental education and community engagement. She currently serves as the Education and Outreach Coordinator at the University of Memphis’s Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering Research (CAESER), where she leads initiatives that connect scientific research with K–12 educators, community partners, and the public.

Lucinda holds a Master of Science in Environmental Geoscience from Mississippi State University, a Graduate Certificate in Social Media Strategy from the University of Memphis, and a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Georgia Gwinnett College. Her interdisciplinary background informs a unique approach to translating complex environmental science into accessible, engaging learning experiences.

Prior to joining CAESER, Lucinda spent nearly a decade in the classroom, advancing from an elementary special education teacher to a middle school lead science teacher. She now designs and delivers high-impact outreach programs, reaching more than 7,000 participants annually. As CAESER’s social media manager, she further amplifies these efforts by expanding access to science education through digital platforms.

A passionate communicator, Lucinda presents regularly throughout the Southeast on environmental topics, STEM education, and community-centered outreach strategies. Her work is grounded in the belief that education empowers individuals and strengthens communities, supporting a more sustainable and equitable future. This commitment aligns closely with CAESER’s mission to advance environmental and social well-being through collaborative, applied research.
