Born in Nicaragua and raised in The Netherlands, Luz Gray joined her local business school with the aspiration of working in the business world. She started her career in Business Administration and as a translator with an international import/export company while finishing her last year of college. Soon after she started expanding her translation skills and started working as an office manager and a multilingual translator for different import/export companies for the next few years.
In 2005, she joined a Prepaid Telecom company in Memphis, starting as a General Manager with the purpose of helping them expand their Spanish-speaking branch/clientele. When the company grew and became the second largest prepaid home phone company, she became their Director of Operations for multiple sister companies while helping the company build a new platform that would allow their convenience stores to provide their customers with prepaid wireless payment services and other financial services such as reloadable debit cards. After ten years in the telecommunications world, she switched to Higher Education and joined the CAESER Team within the Herff College of Engineering in 2015, where she is the Project Manager.
