Rodrigo Villalpando-Vizcaino is a research faculty at CAESER and the Herff College of Engineering. His academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from ITESO University in Mexico, followed by a master’s in civil engineering with a focus on water resources at the University of Memphis. Currently, he is dedicated to advancing his expertise through a Ph.D. program in Earth Sciences, concentrating on emerging contaminants in groundwater and surface water systems.
With an extensive professional background spanning over seven years, Rodrigo specializes in the comprehensive study of groundwater and surface water systems, particularly in the region of West Tennessee. His skill set includes proficiency in groundwater numerical modeling, GIS analysis, water balance investigations, impaired stream surveys, hydrogeologic assessments, wellhead protection plans, GW-SW monitoring programs, water sampling, high-accuracy GPS surveying, and geophysical logging.
Rodrigo’s involvement in numerous projects, sponsored by both public and private entities, emphasizes his commitment to expanding knowledge and addressing critical issues related to groundwater. His collaborative efforts within a multidisciplinary team have led to scientific collaborations with students from diverse regions, such as South and North America, Africa, West Asia, and South Asia. The outcomes of these collaborations have been shared through publications in scientific journals and presentations at conferences.
